Eclipse dates for 2010

All times are Pacific Standard Time PST, unless otherwise noted

These times are for the peak of the eclipse.  Eclipses begin up to three hours prior to the peak and a few hours after the peak time.  Thus, for instance, you will hear me say Dec 30/31, 2009 and Jan 14/15, 2010 depending on where you live, the eclipse begins the day before and finishes the next day in pre-dawn time.

You will notice that eclipses occur in pairs, approximately every 6 months; solar and lunar eclipses are two weeks apart.  In 2009 there was an extra event, but most of the time we see pairs of eclipses with new and full moons, four times per year.

Mercury began it's Retrograde on Saturday night April 17, 2010 and will continue its retrograde pattern until the early afternoon of Tuesday May 11, 2010.

On Saturday April 17th, the Sun, Mercury and Venus were all in the constellation of Aries (sidereal map).
By April 20th, Venus moves into its own sign of Taurus bringing pragmatic beauty into our lives.

For one third of the planet, this will be a month (mid April to mid May) that could bring creative plans from February of 2008 to its first stage of fruition.  Creative projects you make this month might come to fruition Fall of 2010, bringing great benefit from your creative endeavors.  (Again, this is for 1/3 of you out there and it is very exciting).

Check back on Wednesday night, as I explain more about what the beginning of May brings for us this year.  It is wonderful news about how Jupiter will be inspiring new patterns in your life and setting the tone for the economy for a year.

Here is a beautiful painting by Mavis Gewant of the yantra for planet Mercury.

A Slow Day becomes a Go Day.  The New Moon begins at 1:10 pm PST today.
Those of you, who have been using my calendar, might have noticed that today is listed as a Slow Day.  Slow Days are complicated days that are often filled with obstacles or unexpected changes.  No Days are days that are NOT good for big business deals, signing contracts, buying homes, grand openings, launches or other activities celebrating or focused on making money.

This morning was a special day, since it was a dark Moon or the last day of the waning Moon, and thus is a Yellow or Red day according to my judgement.  This often yields a cloudy mind, plans can change quickly and there is no foundation for permanant change.

That all changed after 1:10pm PST today with the official New Moon.  All activities before 1:10 pm today on Monday March 15, 2010 would be considered to be quiet, in house days or a morning to be flexible and not expect too much.  Actions after 1pm today, on the other hand, will support new activities, new plans and changes that you are trying to implement.
This afternoon is much better for creating lasting change or beginning new systems.

Please note:
I choose the color of a given day by the activity at Sunrise for each day.  This generally affects the entire day, but one time per month you can notice that things shift for the better immediately after the New Moon begins.
Today was a unique day with a significant change in the middle of the day.
Notice also, that I hand select the color of each day.  This is not generated by some computer program.  I assess each day at sunrise for an entire year and post each month for free to anyone interested.

The Slow Days and No Days are universal for everyone on the planet. (You need to time adjust for your location and time zone.  I list all times as PST.)

Go Days provide general indications of good days to conduct big business, sign contracts and other activities associated with making money.  Your personal Green days might be different than the universal chart.  Each individual is unique and your Green days can be determined through your Vedic astrology chart.

To learn more about my business strategy packages or how to discover your personal Green days see the Sessions section and FAQ.
Please fill out the contact form and request a Price menu.  I will send you an explanation of how you can have a map of all your Green Days for an entire year.

The title of this post mentions "a new start to a new economic pattern".  There are major changes afoot this Spring.  I will be teaching a class on the New Wave of Economic pattern at the end of March in Seattle through biz nik http://www.biznik.com.  Today's New Moon actually begins a very special process that will activate in May 2010.

Keep checking this blog for more information on what this means for you.
Have a Happy New Moon Monday.  May you Spring forward with your new projects.

Honor Women Every Day

Today is a chance to celebrate, honor and reflect on the many ways that women have changed our world by simple everyday acts as mothers, teachers and wisdom leaders.  They have championed causes of the human family, equal rights for all and fostered heart filled leadership creating community and standing for peace within the home and on the planet.

All of these qualities are related to Venus in a person's Vedic astrology horoscope.  Venus is about connectivity and that each of us is not separate but part of a human family.  This connectivity is what Venus represents in each person's life.
For most men, Venus represents the partner in their life and for everyone Venus represents the quality of emotional connection they will find in relationship, what joy will be in their life and how a person connects with beauty, the beauty of their essence and the sublime in their life.

Today, the planet Venus is in the constellation Pisces having just moved there on March 3, 2010.  This is what is called an exalted Venus in Vedic astrology, for the qualities of caring connection, bringing beauty to the world or the connection with the cosmos expresses itself in the first degree.  (Einstein had an exalted Venus and he had a mind which connected with the laws the Universe and of time itself.  This is an example of a very connected Venus, it is just connected to the heart beat of the cosmos.)

If someone is born with Venus in this region of the sky, usually each Spring, then the artistic and conceptual ways that a person connects with their world are heightened.

So, on international Women's Day, we have the qualities of loving connection exalted in our skies.  Enjoy the sweet joy that Venus shines on us today and celebrate the women in your life, and how they shine their beauty into your life.

Women like Eleanor Roosevelt are important to remember today as well.  A woman who's fiery direction created the Universal Declaration of Rights.  See the declaration here: http://www.udhr.org/UDHR/default.htm
Eleanor Roosevelt mothered the world and felt responsible to protect the world's children.

Happy Chinese New Year  -  Year of the Tiger
It is Year 4707 according to the Taoist or Chinese lunar calendar.

This year Valentine's Day falls on Chinese New Year.  Chinese New Year is the celebration of the Spring New Moon (the second New Moon after Winter solstice to be exact).
The year of the Tiger occurs when Jupiter comes to Aquarius, once every 12 years.  So,
those born with Jupiter in Aquarius are Tigers.  In the Taoist tradition, it is said that the intelligence of that animal lives in those people's heart-minds.  Tiger ways are playful, inspiring, sometimes revolutionary in action or thought and often entertaining with their wit, while being humble.  Tiger years bring out the qualities of Tiger in everyone, and those who are comfortable with those qualities can transform and use those talents for self improvement.
Jupiter in Aquarius also corresponds to the Indian celebration of Kumba Mela, a great gathering of Saints and a sacred time to be blessed by the Ganges.

A dawn of hope and change is the theme of this Tiger year.  Coincidentally, Jupiter will be moving from Tiger domain to Rabbit domain in May of 2010.  So even though it is Year of the Tiger, Jupiter moves to the constellation of Pisces in May.

This is one of those unique years, where Tiger actually occurred May through July of 2009 and Christmas 2009 through May 2010, according to the actual movements in the heavens, or sidereal astrology.  Remember when many people started to feel hope in May and June last year?  Again this hope and inspiration has welled in our "collective consciousness".

Note that May 2010 through May 2011, Jupiter will move into its own domain of Pisces.  This will herald a social and economic movement for the next 10 years, with Saturn the planet of the masses in a healing and pragmatic domain opposite Jupiter in the region of Spiritual evolvement for all.
Our wisdom, inspired from the waters of Pisces will nourish the ground of Virgo and a mass movement of spiritual healing will find fertile ground.

Happy New Moon today!  The Moon is waxing after having helped eclipse the Sun in the Indian Ocean at midnight PST last night.  This was the longest Solar eclipse for the next 1033 years!
Better yet, Mercury went direct in our skies just before 9 am this morning PST.  This makes a very good combination of a waxing Moon (which is great for beginning New ventures) and a clear means to communicating your self and business ideas.
Things will begin to reveal themselves now.  The last two weeks have been a cocooning time moving from Winter solstice toward the renewing Spring.  And with Jupiter now in Aquarius, the hope that many felt in May and June of 2009 is returning.
The effects of the eclipse, if it is in a significant area of your life, will continue to affect your immune system and overall energy for the next week.
But overall, we all are experiencing a positive movement with this New Moon today.  So enjoy, this is a great time to start a new practice, and act on goals that you set at New Years.

Annular Solar Eclipse on January 15, 2010
The annular Solar eclipse occurs tonight January 14, 2010 around 9 pm U.S. West Coast time and peaks around 11:30PM PST. Find the facts below.  UT/Universal time puts the eclipse in the wee hours of January 15th in the Indian Ocean, and the evening of Jan 14th for those of us in the United States.

From the viewpoint of Vedic astrology, every day is good for something. Eclipses block the creative forces of the Sun and Moon, which literally block activities of material manifestation and creation.  That is why business and physical activities are more difficult and will not be supported for long term growth when conducting them on eclipse days.  So, I do not recommend signing any papers for buying houses, marriage or any major business activities on eclipse days.  On the other hand, spiritual practices are highly recommended.
See the calendar in the previous post to see what days are good for business and to send newsletters and which days are not fruitful, in general.  Specific information to your individual experience varies and is part of a custom session.

The facts:  This is the longest lasting eclipse since January 4, 1992. It is a partial solar eclipse, but the duration of this eclipse will not be rivaled until December 3043, for 1033 more years.  Its duration will be 11 minutes and 8 seconds at the Greatest eclipse point in the Indian Ocean, at the same latitude and between Somalia and Malaysia.
The time of greatest eclipse is at 7:06 UT or 23:10 January 14,2010 Pacific Standard Time.  Check www.dateandtime.com  to find your local time.
The eclipse is visible from central Africa through the Maldives, Southeast Bangladesh and into Myanmar (Burma).  See the NASA eclipse website for more detailed maps.
In Indian astrology, it is not considered good to view eclipses.

Eclipses are a metaphor in Vedic astrology stirring certain domains of our cosciousness for healing.  Indeed it is a time of letting go of our darkness, which is just an illusion, and a time of losing parts of our selves that no longer serve our highest Good.

What do you want to let go of this year? What do you want to stop doing that gets in the way of allowing your radiance?
Who would you be if you stopped doing that one thing?

What we perceive to be darkness is just our higher Self in healing. What we are losing is the "illusion that anything is negative".

What you can do:
Eclipse days are great days to give to charity, recite mantras, or pray if that is natural to you, eat lightly, stay inside and meditate or remain contemplative.  It is traditional to take a bath and immerse one self in water for both cleansing and protection.
Try being quiet, meditate or give to charity today.  We know Haiti needs the world's support right now.  The future effects of your efforts will be difficult to know, but trust that you are choosing acts in alignment with the day.
